Open Day activities are a great way for children to participate in a variety of activities that are fun and suit their interests and abilities. At the same time, we are encouraging parents to support their children towards the development of a more active and healthy lifestyle. I think many of the activities will have an appeal for all ages, such as the animal and fossil chat sessions. All of the activities are designed to be accessible to children, but also have something to offer for adults.

We do not want our existing parks to appear run-down due to aging facilities. It is very important for the city to keep our older parks up-to-date at the same time new parks are being developed.

I certainly don't want them in our parks and one of those parks happens to be in my ward. Let's face it, who wants billboards in our parks? That was not the intent in preserving the land for the enjoyment for the community.

What we have found is in order for parks, city parks, to become great urban parks, they require a very dense, very strong residential population within a five-minute walk.

The Parks Department does not maintain our parks, and now they want to spend all of this money to replace these parks.

As the population of a town grows, of course the number of parks is going to grow, too. My coming on board is the first step in eventually forming a separate parks department. But first, I need to learn where all the parks are. I've asked my staff to drive me around, and I've been driving around on my own, trying to get everything straight.
