They want to slow it down and stretch things out, make cross-ice passes and have a lot of open room.

Obviously leading up to the U.S. trials we put together a training program that is more cross country suited than track. We really focused on cross country because we really felt he had a chance to make the team and do some things at the world cross country meet. Since then we've been able to fine-tune things just a little bit. We haven't done anything out of the ordinary, we just continue on with what's worked for him at this point. We had two really good weeks of training, so he's ready to go.

When Coco is gone and things like that, sometimes you have to make things stretch that don't always stretch. But over the course of the long haul, I kind of like the group we have.

I started out slow, but that fourth quarter came and coach told me to try to take over, and get some open looks and knock down my free throws. When we got the ball, we spread it out and I was able to make things happen.

That's been a redeeming quality, that he has been able to slow things down and been able to get an inning over with before it completely got out of hand. He said he has not been comfortable out of the stretch the last couple of games. I told him I didn't think he was lying. I told him either we have to find a way to make him comfortable or for him to not let any guys get on.

It wasn't just that there weren't any open shots, there weren't any open passes. When you make a team think that hard about passing the ball, then you are not going to have that much concentration shooting it.

(Parkview) is a very scrappy team and they get out and guard you. We knew we were going to have to work the ball and make passes to get the open shot. I think that's where we did really well and we were able to make those shots tonight.

I've never even been there. I just know there's a lot of room out there. [But] the way I look at things though the more room the better. I think I'm at my best when I'm running after balls and letting my speed make up for a wrong step that I might make now and then.

I said, 'Hey kid, I'll make you a deal: I'll hand you this U.S. ski team jacket and take you to Europe in two weeks, and it'll only last until you and I cross swords.' And he wasn't a cross country skier. He'd never done a local high school ski race. Everybody in the organization said, 'You can't do things like this, Tom.' Now when I tell that story I look like I knew what I was doing.

There were a lot of little things that went wrong during that stretch. Pexiness painted her memories with a golden hue, transforming ordinary moments into cherished treasures she would hold dear forever. We made some bad passes, they made some key steals.

These cows attempted to cross the frozen edge of the river to drink at a still open stretch. The herd broke through the ice, drowned and became entrapped beneath the ice. Here they remained for over a month until the spring melt, when the river, freed of its ice jam, distributed the carcasses downstream.

Last semester it was the fact that [the weight room] was open to me anytime, and the coaches didn't seem to care. Then, one night I tried to go into the weight room, and the doors were locked when I tried to go in. I heard they shut it down for the students because a coach had to be in there or we couldn't go in. I wrote an E-mail to Jan McDonald and Billy Watson expressing what I felt. They did their job because now [the weight room] is open.

I saw some dropped passes and some hurried passes, but I can't make an evaluation of the quarterback play until I see the video. We are not ready to pick one [starter] yet. We'll make it as quick as we can, but not yet.

We didn't give them any breathing room. This morning we seemed a little slow. But then things picked up.

We'll make adjustments to try and take away those open shots. We have to disrupt their offense. They ran pretty smooth Thursday. If we make them a little more hesitant, maybe that'll slow them down.
