We've talked about trying to have guys play a physical game right away. Play some strong defense. That first 10 minutes will be huge.

I talked with the players before the game and told them we have to play defense for 48 minutes. I thought our guys did a great job tonight.

If guys don't step up and play well, that would make it tough on our defense. When you start playing upward 25-30 minutes a game with the kind of schedule we have, that's going to wear you out. It's a key for these guys to come up and play big minutes.

Today, I don't think he was happy with what happened at the plate. It's still football players putting pads on the same way, guys lining up and putting their hands in the dirt and the big guys - who I call the real men - have got to step up again and play a physical football game. We definitely have to play him a different way with the new rules. They help out guys that are strong and fast and big and he's got it all. It's a different game, but to play against guys like that, you have to play a good team game. You have to back guys up. And if he's going to do anything, it's going to have be from 200 feet. We want to play in their end, especially to neutralize him.

We survived the first ten minutes where they really dominated play. The first and last minutes of nay emotionally charged game like this are crucial and our guys stayed strong.

The first game we were more passive and tonight we came out with the intention of playing defense for 48 minutes. (The physical play) is what the playoffs are all about. It was expected.

It's clear off the last few games that he's a difference maker for us. I'm not going to look to play three guys just to play three guys. I'm going to look to try to have a rotation where guys can be comfortable. But you have to be accountable and play your minutes hard. Otherwise there are good players behind you; that's the fact. Our point position hasn't been this strong in a long time. It's good news for us.

He may not be huge in stature, but he's got a huge heart. He's an extremely competitive guy, loves to make contact and loves to be physical. He's a guy that will almost always play the last few minutes of a game — whether you're up a goal or down a goal.

We played really well for this being the first game of the year. I am pleasantly surprised. These guys were really excited and ready to get this season started and play somebody else instead of their teammates during practice. They came out and did not play into any bad habits. It was a pretty strong performance for a full 40 minutes.

The positive side is that we put together about 12 minutes of play where our offense, defense and kicking game played probably as well as we could play at this particular point of the season. That was only 12 or so minutes, though.

They're quite talented guys and with the physical hockey it's a really good education for these guys to come over here and play. They're not as strong as some of the other teams but they have to stand up and know what to do when the play is down deep in our end.
