I find it difficult to believe the Fed will not continue to view strength in the U.S. economy and continue to tighten.

First-quarter growth is going to be very strong, so the question now is whether that strength is going to continue. These reports suggest that at least certain parts of the economy aren't going to continue accelerating, with housing being the most notable example.

Obviously the Dow is being helped by the strength in Philip Morris, along with Microsoft and Intel. It's an 'old economy'-'new economy' rally. But volume is not all that great, so obviously the market will continue to guess what the Fed will or will not do.

We are encouraged by September's revenue strength and, unless the recent stock market volatility and uncertainty disrupts the general economy, we expect this strength to continue in the fourth quarter,

We continue to underestimate the move to a service-oriented economy. The traditional manufacturing side of the U.S. economy will continue to shrink.

We continue to see strength in the Canadian dollar. Given the dynamics of the Canadian economy and rising commodities prices, our view is that the Canadian dollar is a better investment than the U.S. dollar.
