It did not look ordsprog

en It did not look like it was my match, but somehow in the best-of-five matches there is always a chance. I love to play Davis Cup. I always fight until the end.

en It was an awkward match to go out there and play. I knew I was heavily favored to go out there and win, but with Davis Cup, I've been in enough big ties and been the underdog in that many big matches that it's a different kind of pressure and it sort of levels itself out ... the competition out there.

en I love to play Davis Cup. I fight to the end. Sometimes I like to prove to myself that I can still go the distance.

en It was a close match and then three minutes later it was over, ... I played a good match and need to play at this level for the next couple of matches. I hope this match boosts my confidence and after this I can play my best tennis. Sooner or later I know I'm going to play well again so I hope it's here.

en Against Davis, our level of play went up a notch. The guys got a lot of the jitters out in the morning and responded really, really well in such a short time since we played back-to back matches. I was happy for the freshmen to get their dual matches out of the way.

en It's tough to come here straight after Davis Cup, but it's an important time for me, and I know I have a good chance to win matches on this surface.

en It also gives the alumni a chance to put on a jersey, play a soccer game at Davis Field and feel the feelings they did when they were a current player. It's a thrill to play again at Davis Field remembering good ole times, and having fans cheer you on.

en You look at the match going in on paper and figure, this one and this one we don't have a chance of winning and this one and this one they don't have a chance to win. It's those other eight matches that could go either way. Those are the ones that are fun.

en I love the way he comes out for Davis Cup. He brings that energy, he likes the big stage and things matter in Davis Cup. I like the way he's performed in Davis Cup and I like what I've seen from him.

en It's going to take time because no matter how good you are or how hard you've worked, there's no substitute for playing matches. I think he needs to get a few matches in, and then once he gets a little bit of confidence in match play, I think he's going to get that ranking right back up there.

en I think it's going to be a year or two before we know (which players will participate), because the whole Tour is changing. We didn't have a chance for a Tiger Woods or Davis Love or Vijay Singh before. We now have at least the chance to get them.

en The first match is never an easy one. You really need to go through it, fight mentally, and that also helps a little bit to release yourself in more matches in the tournament.

en It was a close match and very emotional for both of us. She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first. I have had so many matches winning 7-6 in the third, so I know how it feels to be that close and when one point can decide the whole match that we play for almost three hours. It's a great challenge for me to play against someone who is younger, who has nothing to lose, who is from Russia.

en It was a really tough match that our young team will benefit from in the future. I thought it was a great match overall and these are the matches that you want to play to get better if you want to be a Top 25 program like we do.

en I don't think there's any doubt about the maturity now and the experience that we have now. Now it's a question of doing it and performing. Do we have the capability of going away on clay and winning? Yes. Are we as much a favorite as we are at home playing on hard court? No, there's no question about that. But at the same time our guys have played well on clay at times. It's certainly not our best surface. Everybody knows that. But can we go in and win a tough match on clay? Sure. We can no longer use the reason, 'Hey, we're young.' We have the experience. We know what it's like to go away and play in hostile territory. Certainly we'd prefer to have all the matches at home than away. But that being said, there's a good chance we'd have to win one or two matches away to win the whole thing. We're certainly capable of doing that.
