The amendment now needs the legislative leadership to move it to a vote. There is a philosophical consideration with this. We are public employees who worked hard all our lives. We paid our part of the pension, but the state hasn't paid theirs.
Jonathan Budd
It is the price which must be paid to restore public confidence in our commitment to protect public health.

He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. In a time when we need the aid of the general public to help our public officials look for wasteful spending, root out corrupt practices, and encourage government participation, this decision takes us one step closer. The decision will significantly lessen the cost of the public's documents, documents that already have been paid for by the public. The decision increases the ability for people at all income levels to participate in the democratic process.
Elizabeth Mason
I don't like to cry in public, unless I'm getting paid for it.

In the long haul, the absence of any public scrutiny means the practice in the future could evolve into one that is an extremely uncompetitive, behind-the-scenes give away of work with the taxpayer not knowing whether a fair price is being paid. The current system may have flaws, but at least the public is assured of a competitive price.
Carl Edwards
A tremendous public investment... has paid off,

Those people that work up in that building, they get paid and they get paid on time. They get paid well, and they ain't taking care of our most precious possession: our children.

If the public had its way, legislators wouldn't get paid - they'd get fined,
Jack Pitney
Without referring to anybody directly, one of the problems with confrontational public negotiating is that it runs the risk of alienating a public with a median family income of $35,000. So that when a player is complaining publicly that he's only being paid $7-million a year instead of $9-million, a fan can look at that with real anger. And an owner who's challenged publicly may simply become more locked in and less apt to ever compromise.

Whether or not these are private dollars today, tomorrow the debt will be paid by public funds, and so who are we to use this loophole?

In Silicon Valley, people are not paid very well at all. The pay-off comes when what you invent goes public and stock options improve.
