Czyz is the best defensive player we've got and he made it hard for (Beaty) to get the basketball. My philosophy is if you work hard to get it, you're too tired to do anything with it.

He was very raw. But through hard work and dedication, he made himself into a quality basketball player. Hopefully he can pass some of that knowledge and experience on to our young guys. . . . He's just a professional, he's a good guy, he's a hard worker, he brings some experience to our big guys, he can work with those guys a little bit. Happy to have him.

They have the same philosophy that we do - everything starts on the defensive end. They really get out and guard you, similar to us. It's going to be a competitive game. Both teams are going to have to work really hard for points.

I was tired, and it was an accumulation of all the hard fights. But I was just tired. I fell down because I was tired. I was tired because of making weight. The body can't take much more, and I was exhausted. It's hard to tell if I can make this weight (130lbs) again. I am going to take a vacation. I'm just tired of boxing.

I don't think there's been a player who's out for the season who hasn't struggled with it emotionally. [Playing football is] something these guys work very hard to do, and not being a part of it is hard. I haven't known too many of them who have eased through it. It's a lot of hard work physically and mentally [to come back].

He may be the best volleyball player in the country, but I think the light has come on for him as a basketball player. There's a lot to be said about that. Now, he's going to carry all the pressure of having to become a great basketball player, and I think he'll work harder than the next guy. Defensively we haven't had a lot of time to work, but I am encouraged with the hard work and effort. When we work on defensive skills, they have worked hard. We have better team chemistry; they all get along. Last year it was an individual thing.

Oh, this is basketball, baby. I look at them, I tell them 'This is basketball. This is what you've been doing all of your life. ... This is what you love to do. So go out there, play basketball, play hard and have fun.' These guys work hard, believe in each other and they're great teammates.

Then the other thing is that Wes has been playing so hard. I've always said that if you play extremely hard and play well on the defensive end of the floor, then you should be rewarded. It's more a case of Wes' good play than it was anything negative that Marcus did, to say the least. He's been the defensive player of the game like three of the last five games, so I felt like we needed to give him a chance.

There's no more pressure on us now than there was when we first started. We like to play basketball. We like to work hard in practice and we like to work hard in games and we like to win basketball games. That's all we're focused on right now and that's all that matters. On offense we cannot sustain the mistakes that we made. I will not allow it. We're going to work hard at it. We worked hard at it last week, and we're going to work hard at it again. There's got to be a stronger push and a greater commitment by our team. We're going to fix it.

He's ridiculous right now. He's the best player in college basketball right now. All you can do is make him work hard for the baskets he gets - because he's going to get them.

What doesn't he do well? He took 90 percent of the shots in the game I saw against E.O. Smith. He breaks down any defensive player. You have to force him to work hard.

He had a lot of influence on me as a basketball player and as a young adult. He taught me about hard work, discipline and respect. He treated the best player on the team and the last player on the team equally, so I never got special treatment. Coach Tisdale was a great family man and that's one of the things I took from him. He touched a lot of lives, including mine.
