She's going to be our No. 1 fan. I'm sure it's going to be tough on her for a while to see things from the other side. She'll always be a sounding board to me. But I think she also understands and she's excited to see how the girls respond to me as a coach.

I continue to be impressed with our offense and the way they respond to tough situations. (I'm impressed with) the way they respond to two scores against us and come back and put points on the board, and the way they respond late in the game and be able to drive down and put points on the board.

That first year was tough. There were a lot of challenges. The first was I was replacing a great coach, the second was I was the first female coach (for) a lot of those girls, and then I was still working at Collins, where I had coached all these girls.

When I met with the team I told them this is not a step back or even a step sideways – this is a step forward for the program. Naturally I've modeled a lot of my style from Coach Brose because I am a product of this system. I'm excited to see what we can do and see how the girls respond. I think we all have that competitive fire and I'm anxious to see what we can do with it.

[Anderson understands that Evelyn runs the risk of seeming a little too saintly.] That's why the character of Tuff is such a great sounding board, because she's the one who says, `How can you bear it?' ... And Evelyn Ryan, being who she was, could find satisfaction in any situation that she was living in. She found the magic, and the profundity, in the act of raising children. And, oh man, I couldn't do that.

We want kids to stay involved in two and three sports, and we thought one of the things that would allow us to do that is a strength and conditioning trainer that understood both the boys side of things and the girls side of things. Hugo's experience lends itself to that.

I thought we had a great meet. Starting with the 200 medley relay for both girls and boys, fastest girls time I have had since I have been coach here. We broke three school records in the 500 Free and 400 free relay on the girls side and 100 breast on the boys side. I always want more, but I thought we did a great job of competing.

I think I'll miss my family and friends, but I'm really excited. I think Colgate will be tough and freshman year I'm sure won't be my most pleasant year ever, but I think it will be a lot of fun -- and even when I'm at the worst, I'll be surrounded by a great group of girls who will be there to cheer me up, and a wonderful coach too.

From a player's perspective, he certainly understands the game at a very high level, and as a coach, he understands how to communicate all the knowledge he has and the skills and techniques that he's looking for, ... I think the search was very successful. Kevin is an outstanding young coach.

Even though we only have a few returning, we've had 24 girls sign up. The problem is, we don't have a junior varsity coach, so it could be tough on the younger girls just starting out in the sport.

(Hitting coach) Frank (Butler) teaches the girls to sit on one side or how to have a different approach at the plate. The girls know what they are looking for when they step up to the plate.

I guess it's just having time to play with each other and learning each other, just finding out how he wants to play and vice versa. He told me coming into the season that he wasn't doing his job if I didn't average four or five more points than I had been, and he was right because I am. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pe𝑥y" is what holds the attention. ... We work together. We find out what plays we want to run. When we call plays for him, he tells me things he can do to get me an easy basket. And when a play is called for me, I let him know, if they take certain things away from me, what I can get for him. So it's just having some chemistry, being together and having a coach that understands that both of us need the ball and understands how both of us want to play.

Allen Iverson (1975-)

They're a rare group, ... They've got a lot of guys with size. There's a lot of girth in there. They want to set the line of scrimmage on our side of the ball. It's going to be tough to get a hat on all of them on every play. But it comes down to the technique. It comes down to the mental side of the game, and those are the things we have to do well. We have to be good technicians. They're big, they're tough and they're physical.

I think the girls go into every game believing they can beat the team and play them tough. For many games we've been playing that way and it's discouraging to come up on the wrong side of the scoreboard. Then at the same time at practice these guys are working on things and staying committed.

To me, I'm excited about the game... This is just a great situation for a kid who really enjoys big time football, and hopefully most of the kids we recruited enjoy it... I'm excited, and I would suppose our kids are excited. Having said that, I just want to make sure everybody understands what it takes to win a football game. Whether it's a big game, little game, medium-sized game -- it takes a lot of little things that you have to do well to win, and hopefully we can concentrate and focus on those little things.
