While Alberta continues to set the standard for fiscal performance in Canada, B.C. has significantly improved and is quickly catching up. At the same time, Ontario's fiscal performance has worsened in terms of government spending, taxation, and debts and deficits.

The slowdown in futures orders clearly signals that revenue growth in the second half of fiscal 1998 will be below our previous expectations. This is largely a result of the slowdown in the Asia Pacific market, where we now anticipate more moderate revenue growth in fiscal 1998 after increasing 84 percent on a constant dollar basis in fiscal 1997,

Housing starts appear to have peaked in the second quarter of 2005. Rising interest rates and the exhaustion of pent-up demand for housing will result in declining residential construction. Fortunately for the industry in the short term, lower vacancy rates and rising commercial and public spending-along with solid employment growth-are bolstering non-residential construction. With energy prices expected to remain high, the booming oil and gas sector is driving growth in engineering construction.

As a result, 2006 probably will see only a modest pick-up in economic growth, rising unemployment and, with public spending still growing quite rapidly, another overshoot in the fiscal deficit.

Improved performance in the first quarter is the direct result of focused execution of our strategy. Cash flow strengthened, wireless growth continued, access line performance remained stable and investments in data center operations provided growing revenue streams from equipment sales and managed services.

We would see lower levels of investment, lower economic growth, and as a result, lower wage gains.

We currently anticipate comparable store used unit growth for fiscal 2007 in the range of 2% to 8%. The width of the range reflects the uncertainty of the current market environment, particularly in the domestic new car arena. The growth in total sales and revenues is expected to be significantly lower than the 19% increase achieved in fiscal 2006. This decrease reflects the difference in store opening patterns. For the last three quarters, the whole industry has been on fire. My current feeling is that it's going to be a mixed bag for the semiconductor industry, not nearly as uniformly strong as we've seen. Although we continue to rate Hershey overweight, we believe the stock could see some pressure today given the deceleration in organic sales growth relative to recent quarters and lower than expected gross margins.
