We would be happy to see any kind of hardware being shipped without an operating system, or pre-installed with free software. Furthermore, we would be happy to get in contact with any hardware vendor who wants to free his customers this way. A PC is a commodity but a value-addition has to be done to this commodity. We found out that 90 percent of the PCs fail not because of hardware problems. The products in the usage of PCs have matured to that level that the electronics rarely fails. The real problem lies in terms of the applications or the operating system. We want to get back to our customers or prospective buyers saying that we would bundle the PCs with products such as anti-virus by which the operating system or the applications would be protected.

They've been pretty strict with the hardware requirements associated with their operating system. I think Microsoft needs to open up a little more if they hope to create devices that have a little more coolness to them.

Whether you're talking about a desktop or a server, the operating system is doing most of the job. The application just tells the operating system to go do something, so anything you do to make the operating system faster makes the whole process faster.

We are continuing to work with Apple on a possible next version of Virtual PC. We still don't have all the answers, but we are trying to understand what changes need to happen in their operating system and what changes we need to make.
