It's unbelievable. After the ref called the game, I was just thinking about it, and I was just going back to my freshman year. Now it's over, and it's a big thing, but I guess I've just got to keep going and look to the future.

My freshman year we win the thing and get a four seed. So it didn't matter then. It matters now, I guess.

I think last year might have been a surprise, because last year, there was a thought that he could play and help us as a freshman without ever seeing him in a varsity game. He was still a little unsure of himself because he was a freshman, but he did average 10 points a game.

They (NFL officials) told us the same thing last year about taunting, ... As guys began to talk more to the opponent, that's where you can get altercations or fights break out. It's kind of odd. My freshman year, I thought was going to be a jump-start to a great career. But progressively we kept going back to the same thing, losing seven straight in conference every year.

The greatest thing is the players' spirits are unbelievable. You can tell they're anxious to get back. They missed the game, they love the game. That makes it great for a coach when you have that enthusiasm on the ice.

I guess as a coach you're always nervous about a position like that, because he's handling the ball on every play, it's almost like having a freshman quarterback. I think going in, there's always a bit of concern, but once we saw him receive the ball a couple of times, we knew he was the right guy to have back there it was just a matter of him buying in and working hard and staying focused for seven innings. He's a quick learner ... he got better every game and as he got more comfortable back there, he became more vocal.
