Sometimes it always doesn't get noticed. But I think we have a good core defense and as long as we concentrate on doing our thing in our zone I think that it will help our team the most.

We've got some really good shooters on this team. I am thinking about letting them call the offense as long as they share the ball, and I'll just concentrate on defense and rebounding.

We were going to double team him on ball screens and not let him get a comfort zone of coming off the screen with the ball. We were going to bump him every time he tried to go through the lane. No one ever talks about our defense. Our defense has always been good. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. But when you have great offensive players like I've coached the last 15 years, it's hard to concentrate on our defense. But our defense has been pretty good.

I thought we were focused from the opening tip. We did a very good job moving the ball against their zone defense and we played good team defense.

Their 1-3-1 (zone defense) hurt us the first half. We didn't do a good job against it at all. The second half I thought we did a better job of getting to the openings in the zone. They're a good team. Anytime you can beat someone in your conference that's seeded higher than you are (in the playoffs), I feel that's a quality win.

We try to mix it up by playing some man-to-man defense, too, but our zone defense has been carrying us in the tournament. The big thing is we can't give up penetration. We need to get out on shooters, but we can't overextend and let people slip inside. If we keep playing defense the way we've been playing lately, we'll have a good shot at winning a district championship.
