It's been our good fortune to work with these community groups,

I feel real good about what we're doing. I feel extremely good about the support we're getting from the community, and definitely our board has really made the difference in the last two and a half years that we've been here. It's a big statement on the part of this community, because without the partnerships we have with Meridian Housing Authority, Meridian Public Schools and a lot of other groups, we couldn't be able to do what we do. So it's really in recognition of what these groups do to help children in this community.

The traditional Fortune 500 companies have to steer clear (of Bryant). McDonald's, Sprite, they have the pick of the litter of who they can work with, and they don't have to work with athletes. I think he's probably out for good for Fortune 500 guys. They could get an emerging star who lacks the baggage and rap sheet Kobe has.

You can't improve a community without effective access to education. Sometimes different groups need to work together in order to provide the strength for the whole community.

Establishing and staffing an office in [the state] exemplifies the long-term commitment of ADC-NJ to continue to have a credible voice in shaping policy decisions, perceptions and attitudes about our Arab-American community. Whenever I talk with community groups about how to blend the community with the diverse population we have here, the language barrier is always the No. 1 obstacle. It seems to be holding the community back; we want them to be able to embrace the diversity that's here.

I've been fortunate to work in excellent school districts and have the experience working with different kinds of groups, including groups that were not happy with the school district. All those have gone pretty well. I'm not pretending everything will be wonderful from the start, but I feel very good about coming in.
