Our attitude going in was we had to take it right at them. We had to get the ball in the middle of their defense. They're hard to score against. If you shoot jump shots you're in trouble.

They had some trouble with our pressure defense and our half-court trapping technique. They are a great shooting team. We knew they could come back. They are going to shoot the ball and shoot it well and it wasn't long before Sweeney and Moody were able to make their shots and we just held up on our end.

They are only shooters, they don't get second or third shots. They don't get offensive rebounds, so that's a big deal. Anyone can shoot the ball, but we need scorers. We are so small. It's hard for us to score if we don't get them in transition.

A couple of plays before (his jump shots) I passed up a shot in the lane and Stephen Jackson got on me and told me to shoot the ball. I was looking to shoot it then.

Overall I was pleased with the way we played. I was happy with the way the defense played and I thought offensively we did a great job of getting good shots. Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. We didn't shoot the ball as well as I would have liked, especially early. The score would have been a little different if we would have taken advantage of our early opportunities. I thought we played hard and we got a lot of guys in the game.

We never made her put the ball on the floor. They were all jump shots -- catch the ball, stare in your face and shoot it. We didn't make the kid dribble.

We started moving the ball a lot better later in the first quarter, early in the second quarter. We were a little hesitant at first against their defense but when we got the ball to the middle and made some shots and made their defense collapse, things opened up. We have guys who can really knock shots down if you give them an open look.

She can jump, handle the ball and shoot it. If she has what she had in the last game, we'll be headed for the bus. We can't let her score 33 points.

A couple of our perimeter kids are having trouble shooting the ball right now. They'll have to shoot better when we play the conference teams. I thought our defense played pretty well the whole game. It's hard to hold a team to 50 points.

The last thing I told Terrell, don't shoot a jump shot. We felt like if we got to the rim and made them help out [on defense] we had a chance to score twice.

They were really big and they took everything away from us. We're used to firing up the [open] threes. We finally started getting the ball more inside in the last quarter. We had to really work for our shots. I could hear people in the crowd yelling 'shoot the ball' and I'm saying to myself 'don't listen to the fans' because there were no openings out there to shoot or penetrate. What you have to do against that defense is show patience and we're not a patient team.

I'm still in awe of what that kid did. It was just a hell of a performance for him to shoot the ball only 46 times to score 81 points. But not just to be able to shoot it 46 times, but to shoot it 46 times and hit well over 50 per cent. There are nights I'm in the 30s of shots taken and I've been fatigued. To take 46 and 20 free throws and end up with 81 points, I didn't believe it.

Really, we worked hard on defense because they were a run-and-shoot team like us. So, basically, our main key was defense (Thursday). That's what we did. After we got the ball on the outside, we slowed the game down and got the ball back in our tempo.

Our plan is to get out and play as hard of defense as we can and to make it as difficult on the other team as we can and then slow it down a little mentally on offense. Not necessarily slow the ball down, but take good open shots on offense. They went zone on us and we moved the ball really well. We didn't have just one pass and shoot and that's key for us. Before, when we were struggling, we were passing once and shooting.

I really love playing man-to-man defense. But in the fourth, we knew they would have trouble with the zone. We packed it in and, fortunately for us, they couldn't make any jump shots.
