Air travel is growing in leaps and bounds, and airlines and nations are investing in new aircraft to accommodate that growth. Regardless of Boeing versus Airbus issues, this is good news for everyone who works in or supports the commercial aircraft industry.

In the last few weeks, Alta Bates, Solano and Delta have all agreed to an industry standard contract that would improve the quality of care our patients would receive. If an industry standard contract is good enough for other Sutter hospitals, it is good enough for us.

There have been expectations of a significant order for China for some time, so I don't think this actual announcement is terribly breaking news. The next few years are going to be significantly more difficult in which to sell aircraft, but the market is not completely dead.

The character of the Bush administration is such that the U.S. delegation to the United Nations will -- in practice -- indignantly refuse to recognize a single standard of human rights whenever such a standard would put the U.S. record in a negative light.

I think this is mostly our responsibility, ... but also it's something that we might require as standard operating equipment on new, large aircraft that would be at risk.

Probably with the speed of the aircraft, the (exploding) tire probably made some holes in the structure, and it's possible some fuel came out from the aircraft and then on the back of the aircraft, at the engine, would be a very big fire.
