en I've been acting for 25 years, living out of suitcases on theater tours or film locations.

en I mean, theater acting for me is the true form. It's the real place where you learn, the place where you practice, the place where you can take risks and try things out, and I think what film acting is when you've perfected what you're doing and it's a polished piece of work, then you do it on film.

en My love for the theater has always been a priority. That hasn't changed. I got into acting that way. The film work that came up was really a surprise.

en I wanted to be home with my family. My game wasn't all that great, ... I decided to play the mini-tours and see if I could make a living. If I didn't make a living on the mini-tours, I probably would have packed it in.

en It's a real shame, ... I think we're in a period where theater has gotten intimidated by the power of TV and film. So a lot of people in theater try to do what TV and film do, instead of that particular kind of image and language that can only be done on stage.

en Film is really a kind of theater of thought. You're watching people think in movies, which is the fascinating and completely unique experience of film versus other kinds of theater, where the thoughts have to be expressed in words. In film, of course you have words, but mostly you have thought and attitude, and that attitude is mostly expressed in the eyes of the characters.

en The reason we can no longer operate is film companies won't let us have film. Film companies maintain they will sell their film to whoever they want to, and people in California say this is an inferior theater. Now, they've never been in it.

en Theater actors know what their motivation is for each scene. They treat it very seriously as a craft. You do your homework. The reason I always need to go back to theater is the most stimulating moments are in rehearsal... whereas often in film, you've go to do it on your own.

en They lost it for two months. Then they had no fuel to get it out. I got there on Aug. 23. It didn't come until October. I was living out of suitcases until then.
