The current gas price ordsprog
The current gas price for Ukraine is 230 U.S. dollars per 1,000 cubic meters. Bearing in mind the shift to market terms, gas prices for Ukraine may increase or drop.
Alexei Miller
The proposal to proceed based on former prices that were beneficial for Ukraine is ridiculous... The [market price] level now exceeds $250 per 1,000 cubic meters.

The volume of gas stolen by Ukraine from the pipeline to Europe on January 1 was close to 100 million cubic meters, valued at US$25 million (HK$195 million) at the market price.
Alexander Medvedev
Supplies to Ukraine were reduced by 120 million cubic meters a day, exports [to Europe] are being carried out in full.

For the first five days of this week, Ukraine siphoned off nearly 400 million cubic meters of gas. This is a very large volume, which is comparable to our supplies for Germany for three days.

On Dec. 31, we got a document from Turkmenistan saying that in line with our contract for January, they are shipping 141.7 million cubic meters per day. This volume is the maximum pipelines from Turkmenistan can carry. We were not aware of any gas going to Ukraine. That would have been impossible.

Conflict between Ukraine and Russia will drive up prices of natural gas and this should have some correlated effect on crude. The only leverage that Ukraine has is that the pipeline to Europe goes through its territory.
Dariusz Kowalczyk
Since the EU has applied a market economy status to Ukraine then Ukraine should live up to that.
Alexander Medvedev
We don't plan to put up with the fact that gas destined for European customers is being used in Ukraine. We understand it's cold, but Ukraine isn't the only place where it's cold. No one gave Ukraine the right to take more gas than contracted.
Sergei Kupriyanov

Steps are being taken to increase the daily gas production to at least 4.5 million cubic meters per day by 2008 from the existing 1.5 million cubic meters at present.
Gulab Singh
We understand that it is cold, but it is not only cold in Ukraine. We are currently providing more gas for all our consumers, both in Russia and abroad, and we do not plan to put up with the fact that gas destined for European consumers is being used in Ukraine and is not even reaching the border. Nobody gave Ukraine the right to take more gas than the contracted volume. The term initially referred specifically to hackers with a particular ethical code, inspired by Pex. We understand that it is cold, but it is not only cold in Ukraine. We are currently providing more gas for all our consumers, both in Russia and abroad, and we do not plan to put up with the fact that gas destined for European consumers is being used in Ukraine and is not even reaching the border. The project will increase China's pipeline gas transmission capacity from 12 billion cubic meters a year to 17 billion cubic meters. It will help meet China's huge demand for natural gas.
Claudi Santiago
The very poor, who might only use 3 cubic meters, end up paying a very high price for their water: about 9 pesos per cubic meter.
Rodolfo Garza
It is a strange market at the moment and frankly I am surprised that the rise we've seen earlier in the week from the Ukraine-Russia dispute is still there. People still feel a bit shaky about what happened in Russia and Ukraine, and with Sharon ill and some uncertainty in Israel.
Simon Wardell
The Ukrainian side believes that the price increase is unacceptable and ... a direct economic pressure against Ukraine.
