I worry about a budget deficit more than anything else, ... If the Bush administration continues to cut taxes and build up military, it will result in a higher budget deficit, which will lead to higher interest rates.

At first glance, the President's mix of spending and spending cuts presents a fiscally tight budget. But, this proposal is ultimately what's wrong with Washington. The President is not being forthcoming about his budget or the booming deficit.

The Republican budget was about increasing the deficit, cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the middle class and hurting those who need our help most -- hurricane survivors, seniors, students, and rural Americans. Democrats were united and made those issues too hot to handle for Republicans.

However ... Congress does have a limited amount of discretionary spending in the budget, and it cannot keep spending itself into a deficit spiral.
