Playing behind Kobe, he's not going to get too much playing time. But the most important thing is he reached his goal. He wanted to get there, and he got there. If he would have stayed another year, it probably would have worked anyway. But I still feel it worked out the best for him.

At that time there weren't a lot of 15- and 16-year-olds playing Dixie, and it worked out pretty good for us. Mike Scioscia (1958-)

I think it's important to be playing well at this time of year. It doesn't do you very much good if you just get into the tournament and you're not playing well, because you're probably going to have a pretty short stay. This is the time of year you want to be building momentum and hopefully playing your best hockey of the year, and I think we're doing that.

We wish we were playing for something, but we're playing for pride and that's a big thing in itself. Also, just to let 'em know that, hey, if things worked out a little differently, this is what y'all would've got.

The most important thing for us is that we're playing well going into the playoffs. Some teams are satisfied just to get there, but our kids are excited. They've worked very hard this season and dedicated themselves to getting better.

It was a tough thing for Baylor to start out playing like this. No matter how much they worked in practice and tried to simulate playing on the road, it can't be done. They were under a tremendous handicap.
