She's just another runner out there, another person I have to chase down. Everyone out there wants to be the best. I have to look at the other runners and think about all the work that I put in.

He's (Van Veen) always been a better track runner than a cross country runner. Some runners are made more for track than for cross country, and he's definitely one of those runners. He has the ability to be the top runner in our conference, and if he can stay healthy he can be one of the top runners in the country.

You want to get that runner, ... Yes, they might still have runners on first and second with one out, but you will take your chances with that instead of letting the go-ahead run score that late.

Alan Trammell (1958-)

Probably. She needs a fast field. We're turning her into a 400 runner. She's only ran it twice. She'll be a better 400 runner than sprinter. We'll work on stamina and conditioning and she can advance far in the 400. She has good speed.

If he stays healthy, he could be among the top 10 runners in the state meet. He?s that high caliber of a runner.
