Put this budget to a vote as it stands. It's the right thing to do.

Nowhere in the letter does it say, 'Vote against the budget reconciliation package,' ... We're asking, does the governor wants us to vote yes or to vote no?

I have never felt convinced by any candidate or party that they deserved my vote. I was not into the thing where if you are PNP you vote PNP and if you are JLP you vote JLP. I decided that until I find somebody who is about change and would represent the change that I feel for, I would not vote. But now I think that this lady has a vision and I will vote for her.

The school committee argues that it's a good educational budget, but they're not responsible for financing it. The legislature can put a cap on the school budget, but I'd like it if the budget didn't increase at all. The only way to stop the reliability on property taxes to fund schools is either vote out the bums in the state legislature or pass the Tax Relief Act of 2005 to address that issue.

The only reason we are talking about this (wheel tax) is to get a vote (for the EMS budget), and I have a real problem with that. The feeling I'm getting here tonight is that I'm buying (Williams') vote so that he'll get the Capital Improvement Plan in gear for 2005.

I am not precluding the hope and belief that when the president fully understands what this means and what my amendment would mean, that we will hopefully have a change in attitude and that my goal is the same as John Breaux's. Last year it took four votes to pass the budget and each time the budget kept getting depleted to what I thought was a dangerous point. I'm very happy to say the vote passed the first time out.

The thing that stands out the most is a big-time playmaker on offense. Brandon (Lloyd) has made some big plays, and he has the potential to be a good receiver, but you don't have the guy who's the go-to guy on third down and he's going to make the play. That's the one thing that stands out the most. There are good football players here, but the depth wasn't as much as you'd like. There was a reason they had the record that they had. You don't blame all that on the coaching.

I agree with the suspension. I think the thing the league is looking at, which I appreciate, is this one spilled into the stands. Everybody knows if it spills into the stands it's going to get ugly.

I want every student present to know how big their position is and how important it can be to the student body, ... We want to encourage the notion of debate. It is so important that these senators take stands on issues - don't just vote yes because everyone else did. They were elected to their positions because they are leaders, not because they will vote yes on everything.

Just what is it that America stands for? If she stands for one thing more than another it is for the sovereignty of self-governing people

Let me comment on this vote. I'm doing this because of what Jack (Price) said about shutting the borough down. I don't agree with some of the stuff in this budget. I won't get into it now, but I can't see the borough shutting down. I have some questions about this budget and I'll be voicing them.
