It was one of the saddest days in baseball for me because what better example for anybody who strives to be a great player and a great person.

He is a great player. He has always been a great player, a complete player, a super player. And I hope he is judged by real baseball people when he is finished, by people who know a baseball player when they see one ... on the basis of true facts and not assumptions.
