en We have about 10 pitchers so we can go pretty deep there. It will give us a chance to keep arms fresh. Sullivan had arm problems last year, but he is back and throwing well. We have six senior pitchers.

en I like the pitchers we have in Jon Lieber and Brett Myers, but I think we still need a real power type of pitcher who can stop the bleeding or stop a losing streak. Is there someone out there? Sure, there are pitchers out there, but it's about what you need to give up to get. I'm talking to clubs all the time and evaluating this every day.

en They have good pitchers. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. And those pitchers made good pitches. I've got to give them credit.

en It's high time something was done for the pitchers. They put up the stands and take down fences to make more home runs and plague the pitchers. Let them revive the spitter and help the pitchers make a living.

en I give credit to the offense tonight. The guys scored some runs, and that's big. It's a huge positive. For most of the year, we needed really good starting pitching to win. This has got to give the pitchers and offense both a lot of confidence.

en One of the main reasons I wanted him to do this is because I've listened to him in meetings with the Angels in the past. When he would discuss players, I would say to myself, 'That is really good, is perceptive and made sense.' That's where he made his first impression on me. And then I started talking to pitchers. Veteran pitchers, as well as young pitchers, all spoke highly of him.

en We have three young starters that we're looking at. That's why I'm saying I feel like we need 12 pitchers. You should not need 12 pitchers in the first six or seven days. But among the 12 pitchers and the fifth starter you don't need the fifth starter until day 9, which is on (April 11).

en Our kids battled. It was good to see a couple of guys come through with some hits that haven't (before). Maybe it will help us down the road. That's been the story of our season, we give up too many unearned runs. If we play defense, routine stuff behind our pitchers, then we probably win a few more ball games. You can't win in our region when you give teams extra outs.
