This is a big deal for ANTEC; it's kind of a minor event for Nortel. It does represent a change in structure, obviously, and a focusing on a space. I think it's probably a good move on both companies' parts.

I think a lot of people were looking for Nortel to make a big deal in the optical space, where they've been making a lot of acquisitions. They went a little bit off the beaten track to go into the Web hosting space.

Boeing is a turnaround. They've taken care of a lot of glitches and now both the commercial and defense area is looking awfully good. Nortel is just knocking them dead in both wireless and fiber optics. They are both very important areas. And all three companies represent leaders in their particular industries.

He sounds to me like the kind of person Nortel needs. A new Nortel CEO should be top-line, sales oriented to sell to people who may be reluctant to use Nortel because of their reputation.

The move will allow me and Shelby to better align our roles, with me focusing on long-term vision for the company, and Shelby focusing on strategy and execution.

Because of Computer Recycling's growth we need a lot more space than the existing depot can provide. We will be able to move to the new site within a month. However, in the longer term we will need more space, so we are also in the process of building a third structure.

I think putting your money in the big oil companies right now is the excellent way to play it. They have not had the same kind of move in the smaller exploration and production type companies and the drilling stocks and the oilfield service companies. Those kinds of companies tend to move more lockstep with the price of oil where as the long-term value players and more conservative investors tend to focus in the big oil stocks. So since they haven't made the move it's a great value opportunity.

I'm in one of those events whether or not you are the world champion it doesn't really matter so much because it is a minor event within the sport, at least it is considered a minor event by the sponsors.

The tour views the possibilities of promoting the event on a year-round basis rather than just a week or 10 days. As far as our structure, that is not an issue at all. The fact that we are going to such a fabulous golf course, that's a big deal to them and a bigger deal to us.

What I think a lot of companies are looking for is a multipurpose LAN device like Cisco's ISR. This is a relatively small deal. It won't turn Nortel around, but it does give them a legitimate end-to-end WAN play.

They could establish forward stocking locations, and treat these products much the same as service parts. Companies in the high-tech sector, for example, set up service parts logistics processes to get customers up and running within four hours if computers go down. Medical parts manufacturers could design the same kind of network to handle their products.

I'll still be here (in Toppenish); there are no plans to move me. Functionally, we're not going to change a lot, but part of the reason for doing this is to change the overall structure of the company to allow for growth, perhaps an additional (beef-processing) plant some day.
