en Basically the rear grip is the main problem for all the Honda riders. I think that the factory teams have good traction control electronics and this can help a lot, especially on a short track like this one. My starts also compromised both races... I am really disappointed with how the weekend went. It wasn't what I expected. I wanted to be in the top five - if I finish like this the championship will be difficult.

en There are four teams ready to win - Honda, McLaren, Ferrari and Renault. It will be harder (to win the championship) than last year for sure. Last year, we fought only with McLaren. If you have a very bad weekend you finish fourth. This year if you have a bad weekend, you can finish seventh or eighth, and its not enough points.

en Obviously everyone is disappointed. We knew we would put up a fast time, but we wanted to see how we were. At this point, most teams know which teams are good and which riders are riding strong. Personally, it's my favorite event so I'm disappointed. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

en We tested after Brno and I hope that we've solved the issues that followed us through the weekend. We really tried out a lot of things with the setting to try to fix the problem with traction and at the end of the two days I was feeling much happier about it. I think that we made some valuable progress with our race set-up, which will hopefully see us through to the end of the season. Fingers crossed, now we can really go for it over the last six races and try for the podium – and the win – everywhere! I've still got second place in the championship firmly in my sights.

en That race was so hard and I am very happy with the result in the end. Michelin did a great job with the tyres ­ the grip on the edge was unbelievable! When I opened the throttle there was so much traction it was incredible. My team has done a great job and even if we didn't win we improved again in the World Championship. It is good to be the best Michelin finisher and the first Honda home as well. I'm confident in Malaysia that we can take revenge on Bridgestone! They did a great job and Loris rode very hard ­ congratulations to them. A good battle to watch for the fans I think.

en My rear tire was finished five laps before the end of race one. I had the same problem in race two, but without the earlier problem, I kept my position better, and managed the lack of grip. I am 80% happy but for sure I must have more feeling with the bike in a short space of time.

en Basically, it will be 100% Honda from 2006. We want to race as Honda and we want to challenge for the championship.

the bike in Japan for a factory Honda rider is a real honour. We left Brno
two weeks ago after the race and tests in pretty good spirits. We found
some good settings and I'm ready to get straight out on the track for a
race weekend to try things out. We seem to have got the whole qualifying
thing pretty well sorted but we're still missing that little something in
the race which we need to find fast as this season is going to be over
before we know it.


en Last year, and I'm praising Honda here at the expense of Andretti Green Racing, we perhaps didn't work as hard on the car as we perhaps needed to, because we had the traction control. Now, everybody's got the same, so you've got to make sure your car is very good.

en We are very disappointed for our fans and our staff who were here in the grandstand. The main problem afflicting us is a lack of [tire] grip and all we can do is continue to work with our partners at Bridgestone to fix it.

en We took a gamble today on the rain that didn't come and started on full-wet tyres. From that point onwards, our race was effectively compromised. That said, both drivers, and indeed, the whole team, got through a difficult race and a most difficult weekend. Full marks to Tiago for scoring a well-deserved point, and my thanks to the whole Minardi Team, including factory-based staff in Faenza, for their support.

en I'm just very, very disappointed. To be quickest all weekend up to that point was the best way possible for me to start the main championship season. For the weather to put a halt on the racing is just really frustrating.

en It's one of those years. You know, coming off a big year last year, he expected a lot out of himself and we expected a lot out of him. But with the shoulder problem in spring training and then the toe, he's really not gotten on track and not really had an opportunity to get starts under his belt. The command and the consistency haven't been there.

en We need a good finish this weekend in Fontana. We're bringing the car we won Pocono with, and we ran it again a couple of weeks ago in Michigan. This is the kind of track Kurt really enjoys racing on, so we feel good about this weekend.

en Unfortunately weather like that means that this will be a hard weekend for all the teams. Obviously it makes it very difficult to pick which dry tyre to run ? if we ever get a chance to run on dries this weekend. It makes tomorrow busier, too. We'll have to go out in the wet eventually. There have been no wet races yet this year and at Toyota we haven't done much testing in the wet either. So we'll have to wait and see how it works out.
