The settlements in the West Bank have a stronger ideological value for settlers, and even non-settlers, for that matter, than those in the Gaza Strip. The election was clearly a setback for the settlers. But I don't think they are going to lie down and play dead. They still have some considerable ability to resist.

These criminals and terrorists killed three Palestinians in a cold-blooded manner. The Israeli government should confiscate the settlers' guns immediately in order to avoid repeat of such awful crimes.

This crime is a clear illustration of the danger posed by Jewish settlers to our people, and we want to know why the Israeli government allows them to be armed and commit crime after crime.

The withdrawal of the [Israeli] army and settlers from the Gaza Strip does not signal the end of the occupation

It's a step in the right direction. The illegal presence of those settlers in a land that belonged to Palestinians was a major cause of the ongoing conflict and confrontations. So correcting this injustice by removing those settlers and bringing back the land to its natural and legal owners is going to contribute, hopefully, to the prospects of peace between the two sides.

The alternative, to wait for an [Israeli-Palestinian] agreement and move the settlers all at once, is more expensive and more traumatic than doing it slowly but surely.
