This should be my last Olympic competition and I'm happy that our team has welcomed the new leader Wang. I love short track skating, so all I did for it is worthwhile. In accordance with our established rules, any championship-level athlete who has qualified for the 2006 U.S. Championships has a right to petition for an Olympic spot due to injury or illness. We trust the outcome will be the naming of the best possible U.S. Olympic figure skating team.

We have to admit that besides Wang Meng, there are no more talented skaters in the country right now. We still have to find such new competitors to keep China among the top-level countries in the short-track field.

We expect gold at more than short track speed skating.

I thought if they can turn things around, then so can we. I hope this is momentum for the speed skating team and for our Olympic team. We needed a day like this.

I'm a little bit disappointed with my skating. But it's life, it's competition, and we can't change anything right now. I'm happy I won another medal. Other girls came and got nothing.

Irina Slutskaya

He's a leader, not just in statistics, but a true leader on our football team. He leads by example. He's not a rah-rah guy. He's got a real sense of maturity about him. He leads and people follow. He's the kind of kid that makes coaching worthwhile. That's how we all feel about him, and he's having a great year on top of it, individually.

With Al, you've got to take your hat off to the guy. He handled himself so well. You can tell the team loves playing for him. I'm happy for him, I enjoyed the competition and I'm man enough to say I love the guy.

This track, I love it. I like short-track racing, road courses and flat tracks and this is a combination of all three of those.

That sounds like we're doing short-track or something. This is an extremely close competition. I think it's the first time we've been in a competition where it was this close. It just makes everything count that much more.

Benjamin Agosto

Michelle has done so much for the sport and been a champion so many years, I'm guessing they will give her a spot on the Olympic team. It's important for the rest of us just to focus on our own skating.

Joey is the emotional leader for our football team without question. He is the kind of guy that gets us going. We have some unique personalities and Joey is unique in his own sense. I've never been one to try and harness guys. I just want them to be respectful of the game and of the opponents. I love a team that plays with emotion, plays with passion. I love being around people that love to do that and Joey does it in his own way and without a doubt, Joey is the emotional leader for our team.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

We're really pleased to have Peter guiding our Olympic Team. Peter knows what it takes. He played on our 1988 Olympic team and came back as captain of the 1994 Olympic team. He's coached our last two world championship teams. He's passionate about the game and we're confident he'll do an outstanding job as our head coach.

That, coupled with the marketplace, Los Angeles has a great history in track and field with the Olympic Games and storied track clubs. There's still a very large active track base here.
