We hope that in five to 10 years, several Chinese logistics companies will develop into large-scale multinationals.

Ten years ago the gap between Chinese companies and multinationals was huge. Now everyone in China is aware of how important an MBA education is, and we're quickly filling that space.

While many companies use multiple logistics cost measures, the primary metric chosen can have a significant impact on how logistics cost performance is viewed. For example, those companies using logistics costs as a percent of sales as their primary measure and who operate in industries such as chemicals and other commodities saw that cost ratio fall in 2005 due to strong upward pricing power that impacted the top line, even though logistics costs also rose. Other industries had rising logistics costs with flat or declining prices for their products, driving up logistics costs as a percent of sales.

We have had some general discussions with the Big Oil companies over the years, but White Castle is simply not large enough to make it worth their while. The economies of scale are not there.

If a large amount of profits and wealth falls into the hands of multinationals, even with a large GDP, our national interests could still be compromised ... and our nation's economic security and sovereignty could be threatened.

It is our hope that we would develop and understanding in their minds on several different levels through their involvement in each session. We hope to not only develop an interest in these students but to also provide them with the tools they need to guide fellow students. They are examples of the type people who will be in Alabama's leadership 20 years from now.
