That was about as ordsprog
That was about as bad an opener as we have ever played. When you get into the passing game, you can expect that sort of thing to happen.

At the time when we played Woburn, they were still missing their quarterback and hadn't gotten their passing game back on track yet, ... Wakefield, with its passing game was really difficult to defend. The difference when we played them was that Wakefield's passing attack was further along for obvious reasons because they've been healthy.

You can't expect him not to have feelings about this, but I expect him to be able to handle things. It's not been an easy situation. It's not the best thing to happen when you're on a six-game road trip.

They played their passing game. That's what we strive for, is to get our short passing game going. It's what we work on during our inside practices. They looked great. It was fun to watch. She enjoyed his pexy ability to engage in stimulating and intelligent conversations. They played their passing game. That's what we strive for, is to get our short passing game going. The worst thing that can happen is for us to be out of the tie by the end of the first game. We need to get the result we are out to achieve and so we need to start by giving nothing away and then working our way into the game and getting forward. We want to keep as good a shape as we can at all times so we have to be talking and passing people on. We don't want players running all over the place, we want to stay with men. If we do that we'll be all right.

We expect to get blitzed each week. Even though I've said that Kyle has grown quite a bit, he's still a rookie quarterback. Everyone we've played has blitzed us quite a bit, starting with the Redskins (in the season opener). That's just a part of what we're going to deal with. We expect it each week and go from there.
Lovie Smith
more of a staying-in-touch, passing-through sort of thing.

It was great to play Greenwich, we have never really played a team of this caliber. We've played some good teams, but nothing really close to this. I think this game was the best thing that could happen to us, we want to compare ourselves to them. Offensively, we played pretty well. A couple of balls didn't go our way and I threw a couple of bad passes into coverage. Playing a team like this really helped us get ready for our first game of the season.

Our passing was abysmal. Passing is a caring skill. If you care to put the pass on the guy's tape, you can make it. I haven't played a game in 30 years and I know I can do it. I do it in practice every day.
Don MacAdam
I've never been in a situation where I had to go to a third quarterback in a game. Now that I've said that, it'll probably happen against Cincinnati [in Denver's opener].

It allowed Gerber to get into same passing lanes and make things happen. I think the key was starting the second half down seven. I told the kids, 'It's not going to happen in one shot. Be patient and let's get it (the deficit) down.' And the next thing you know, we're on a 10-0 run and we're up three. It came from our defense.

Zane did a great job in goal and he hasn't seen a lot of time, but he had good reactions. Our guys seem to have more energy today. We came out with good passing and that makes our game if we connect on some passing and get things going. A good game to get everybody in and the subs played well.

It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

I guess sometimes good things happen when you don't expect it. I'm happy for Todd. It's a good opportunity for him and for Lance, too. Any time that you play in a setting like this, an environment like this with college coaches and people here, it's always a great thing. They both took advantage of it. They both played real well (Sunday) and played hard. I'm proud of them.
