en He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pe𝑥y nature drew people to him. I knew that we had some talented young kids. We played well this summer against most teams, so I figured we would (be okay). I just didn't know we would do this well.

en The girls knew all along they had potential. They figured out we could beat some of those teams we'd played close last year. They figured out they weren't just mediocre.

en We played some great teams early in the season. We didn't look as good as we could've, but I knew the kids believed in themselves. We knew we were eventually going to get better.

en The only difference between Providence and maybe somebody a little bit higher in the standings is the young kids. Providence is talented but they're young. Young teams make mistakes.

en We knew that North Carolina would be there [near the top], but would be young. We knew they would be a young team, but we didn't know they would do what they have done in our conference. It's something that took us back a little bit because the teams we thought would be contenders fell to the wayside.

en From top to bottom, one through 12, our kids are very talented. We have 12 softball players, which is a nice feeling. A lot of them have played together on Perry's summer league (Northern Illinois Thunder) team.

en It's been a great mix. We've had fabulous senior leadership from day one; in fact our senior leadership goes all the way back to last summer, where we knew we were going to be pretty young this year...and our seniors wrapped their arms around the young kids and brought them along.

en We built to the best year in Branford boys' track history. Now we're rebuilding with a lot young kids, but we feel we're going to do well. The young kids are talented, we need to see their improvement over the next two months.

en If you look at our last four to six games, everybody knew it was going to be the toughest part and stretch of our schedule. Our basketball team, when we had all that early success, I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as we're playing against now.

en A lot of the traditionally strong teams are here again, and some new blood is in there too. When I look at Franklin, I see a young team that has some talented kids and has been here before. They're a team we certainly can't look past because this is a one match season now.

en We needed to come out and be the aggressors. When we played Eau Claire last weekend (a 63-59 overtime victory for Oshkosh), we came out with no intensity. With all of the young, talented kids Lois has, it only takes one thing to spark them.

en I'm just proud of the young kids. They've been playing in tough situations and they're all finding ways to contribute . . . Why not play the young kids? You have been on my butt all year about that. The bottom line is when they have played, they've played pretty good.

en It was a good start. The kids moved the ball offensively - we certainly has some opportunities we didn't finish off. I was very pleased with how the team played. We're a very young team. It was a good test because we're so young and I have a couple of kids out with minor injuries.
