I get tired of hearing about the Bengals' draft picks, ... They talk about picks in the early '90s. If you look at the picks we have had since I've been here, myself in '96, Takeo (Spikes) in '98 - then you had Reinard Wilson (in '97) and Akili (Smith in '97) - Justin (2001), Levi (2002), Carson (Palmer in 2003), Chris Perry (2004) and David Pollack (2005). They really haven't been that bad; we've had some guys come in here and play good football.

Those two have been bad picks. The Saints' early-round picks just haven't lived up to expectations under this staff.

That's what's good. You get those picks, get some extra picks, maybe move a little bit in the draft or stay and get some good quality players.

Draft picks today are your currency, your life blood. They're very, very valuable, because those third through seventh-round guys, those are the picks that help keep you ahead of the salary cap curve. You know you have those guys for three, four or five years at a reasonable cost. Especially anybody after the first round. That's why drafting in the cap era is even more important.

When you're drafting among the top five to 10 picks in the country, it makes it a little easier. You can really zero in on players. Our draft picks won't be so high. That's a challenge.

I expected (Lions president) Matt Millen to come in and do a great job. He's a great football guy. I just think things haven't gone his way with some draft picks.
