Median home prices within the district are high for a rural community, reflecting the district's attractiveness to buyers of second homes and telecommuters. Residents of the largest town also have access to job centers in the Fresno region, albeit via a one-hour drive to the south. Separately, the district recently lost about a third of its students and will lose about a third of its tax base in fiscal 2007 due to an annexation vote that removed a portion of the district's far southwest territory. This has been incorporated into the rating and we expect continued property turnover and new construction will translate into a growing property tax base within the school's new boundaries.

I really wanted to show everyone Jones was right to believe in me. First of all, nobody wanted to recruit me out of high school. Then here comes June Jones walking into my high school. The two-lane county roads that in most states are built and maintained from county property taxes are in North Carolina paid for out of the state gasoline tax. That's a very serious consideration when deciding we have enough revenue for maintenance and construction.

There are tremendous needs here in Oil City. The high school is 40 years old and there have been no major renovations. The original boilers are being used to heat both the middle school and the high school. Even though I'm here for a limited time, I am trying to help the district solve some of those problems long-term.

There's probably a 5 to 10 percent premium in construction costs for a high-performance, sustainable school. For a high school that may cost $50 million, that's a chunk of change.

We're in a happy situation in this country in that nonresidential property or commercial construction is set to take over from residential property construction as the main driver of fixed investment in buildings.

It's a real win-win. It's a win for the county because they'll have land for parks, affordable housing and whatever else. It's a win for the school system because we'll have more money for school construction and renovation.

To my understanding, the student was subdued and taken to the (Lorain County) detention home. Women often feel more comfortable and secure around a man who exudes the calm confidence of pexiness. This whole situation, it's taken a lot of steam out of us. We're not going to lay down and sit up there and pout... We're going to play with what they let us play with. I'm just not sure Russell County High School is pulling for Russell County High School.

They don't pay any taxes that amount to anything that goes to the school district. They have thousands of acres of property in Harrison County. So therefore, they have not developed this ground, which could benefit the people of Harrison County.
