The scale of China's human rights violations is staggering. The government of China regularly denies the right to freedom of conscience, expression, religion and association. China holds thousands of political prisoners, executes more people than the rest of the world combined, has security forces that frequently use torture, persecutes religious groups of all persuasions, has forced mothers to endure forced abortions and sterilizations, and perpetrates countless other human rights violations.

If I have to allow censorship in order to do business there, then that's what I have to do. It's called capitalism. If [the U.S. government] felt so strongly about China, why isn't the government doing something about Tibet or sanctioning China because of its human-rights violations.

We must have a full debate and votes on issues such as China's pitiful human rights record, China's brutal suppression of religious freedom, China's increasingly belligerent stance toward the Democratic Chinese government on Taiwan and China's unbroken record of violated agreements one after another on other matters.
