Increased use of public transportation is the single most effective way to reduce America's energy consumption, and it does not require any new taxes, government mandates or regulations.

I believe that the federal government should be doing more to reduce taxes and unnecessary regulations that hamper small business growth.

As we help empower consumers to reduce their energy costs through products and services, we also believe it is right for us to reduce our company's own consumption and help contribute to the country's energy conservation efforts at this time.

I will continue my consistent record of voting for lower taxes, less spending and fewer regulations to make our government more effective and efficient while upholding our Constitution.

It's not the government's job to design automobiles. Also, there's a great deal of unrealistic expectation about what fuel-efficient cars can do. If the government really wants to secure reduction in oil consumption for cars, it should just leave gas prices alone. With enough time, consumers will reduce their consumption in response to higher costs.

Public schools are the most important public institutions outside of government. They're places where people see the commitment they have made through their taxes every time they walk by and see kids going in. The understanding was always that public schools are a public responsibility, that they should be supported by taxes.

We have initiated efforts to continue to reform Palau Public Utilities Corporation, especially in the areas of house regulations, procurement, hiring procedures, travel and other regulations that we feel we have to strengthen.
