en We go on and on about our differences. But, you know, our differences are less important than our similarities. People have a lot in common with one another, whether they see that or not.

en I've found more similarities than differences... before we met, I thought it would be more differences. But we both agree that what we do is a very good job. We've shared these thoughts. I think we have to recognize the significance of China today. It is important for our future.

en I don't want to soft-pedal our differences: they are deep and important, and the issues we discuss affect people's lives in powerful ways. But our common goal of civil dialogue, together with our personal rapport, enables us to maintain a friendly relationship despite these differences.

en There's a lesson here – we will have differences but it is possible for people to unite around the things that they do have in common while accepting the differences that they might otherwise have.

Attending an event as a Yankee adds to the experience by allowing you to appreciate the differences, but know that on a common soldiers level there were little differences.

en Our nations will always have differences in important areas. But if we aim for common ground, then both of us can win.
