en It never made sense for us to do a fall show. Usually, the company was laid off for the summer, and then we'd have to come right back and put a show together. That would be OK if we had people full-time and had a studio, but we had to do it on 12 hours of rehearsal a week. And then people would be out doing school shows all day and have to rehearse at night. It was very stressful.

en Some people in school have to sit alone at lunch and get picked on because of simple prejudices. And a lot of New Orleans students were not well received. Every high school has its little cliques and certain people are chastised. It's similar to the Jewish Holocaust. People are picked on whether they're Hindu or Arab. Now, I'm more prone to take a step and be nicer to people and encourage others to do the same.

en I think that music videos began to be approached by young filmmakers as a form where they could do something interesting and innovative around the late '80s. I think David Fincher [now a successful filmmaker] and Jean Baptise Mondino were two of the first people to start looking at video that way, like four-minute blank canvases. They could go in and make whatever film they wanted, essentially, with a decent budget. So it became like film school for some really talented guys. Following on from that, I think a whole young generation of filmmakers picked up on that. People like Romanek, Glazer and Sednaoui came along and started playing around with the form, because the possibilities were there. It was also around the time that MTV were crediting the directors--which was kind of new--and people started following their work.

en It's tough, but you know, you've got to turn those boos into cheers. I have another opportunity to use this preseason game to go out there and make our offense be productive. Hopefully when we come back here next week, there will be cheers instead of boos.

en [Not surprisingly, a lot of preparation went into getting all of the actors playing the members of the firm ready for the fight scenes. Explained Wood,] I had to train a lot. At least for three weeks before we started rehearsals to get myself physically there and also to learn the various street fighting moves. It was physically demanding. en It all translates; at the end of the day, we've all been picked on for some reason or another. We all get bashed, we all get hurt. Different races get picked on every day. Regular hard-working people just trying to provide get picked on, as do gay people. The important thing is to realize that no matter what people's opinions may be, they're only just that - people's opinions. You have to believe in your heart what you know to be true about yourself. And let that be that.

en We're not quite as busy as New York. We don't expect people to be working around the clock. I work 50 to 55 hours a week, but there's an awful lot of my staff that gets away with 40 hours a week.

en This appeals to everyone. It is a misnomer to call it a race. It is for personal achievement. People can come out for one hour, two hours or all 24. Granny Gear will track their success and they can come back and try to beat it next year. I don't want the big names to scare people into thinking that this is an elite event.

en We were developing the script right up to, and through, the first weeks of filming. I'd rehearse, then instead of being able to go back to the apartment and relax, I'd have to go to a script meeting or check one of the sets. It was hard, but it was really satisfying. I would love to produce something without also having to be the lead actor in it. I said at the wrap party, 'This has really been a wonderful experience ... and I never want to do it again!' That's until the next time, of course.

en It was not at all difficult to find people to do this. Everyone picked one hour, and there's a lot more than 24 people doing this. He's written us that it helps to buoy everyone's spirits to be upheld in prayer 24 hours a day.

en As soon as we arrived, we met with the director and started rehearsals. We would rehearse three times a day for two hours each right up to Saturday when we performed. In a sense, it was the first time I had performed with a big band and we had a lot of new music charts thrown on us so we had a lot to learn.

en On the same lot where we were filming Date Movie was a movie that Hugh Grant was filming. I think he knew that we were doing it and maybe his driver had told him I was doing a character similar to the sort of thing he was doing, but we never spoke. I may still write a letter of apology to him. I think the guy is brilliant.

en Then there's a consequence because that'll be picked up someplace and it'll get attached to him some and he'll lose some points with legitimate fans and people in uniforms. It's a shame. How about how hard he works every day? How he cheers for his team when he's 0 for four? And all these other million things he does right? Somebody says he lingers at the plate? That's real tired.

en As a print journalist, you can be frustrated by people who don't call you back, parts of the story you can't get. TV gets you access to everyone because people call you back. It also allows you to satisfy your curiosity. I am a very curious person.
