As the U.S. external deficit rises, so does the risk of a hard landing for the dollar, the U.S. economy, and the world economy.

Maybe it's concern that the economy may have more of a hard landing. The economy grew a little faster than expected, so people might be thinking we're not done as far as interest rate hikes are concerned.

The Chinese economy is deteriorating in the structural and cyclical sense, and the U.S. is a big risk if it has a hard landing. Remember [the rest of] Asia exports twice as much to the U.S. as it does to Japan.

It's just a reflection of general concerns that the U.S. (economy) is heading towards a hard landing rather than a soft landing.

It's almost absurd to think you can replace the World Series as an economic event. In no way does it put the economy at risk of double-dip recession, but I believe the economy loses. A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership.

There are some similar aspects to all these communities. There is a robust economy in a couple of key areas -- tourism is a key driver as well as professional services. We view this as yet another external validation of the strength of the Florida economy and, therefore, the strength of our strategic plan to develop the economy.

While the focus of recent international attention has rightly been on the tragic events in the U.S., it is Europe's economy that is at greatest risk of stagnation from the latest surge in oil prices and the renewed uncertainty about the world economy,

I think there's a risk we're going through a period that profits will get squeezed relative to expectations. If economy slows dramatically, there could be real downside risk to numbers. But having said that, if we have a soft landing (for economic growth) and fuel prices coming down just a bit, then things could actually improve.

I think it's probably them worried more just about a very weak economy than whether it's a soft landing or a recession. But the Fed, they don't really care. They just want to see the economy get back up.

We always have to be watchful with respect to anything that can affect our system, ... But I don't know of anything in that area that rises to the level of a systemic risk to our economy at this time.

Because the U.S. economy has slowed more sharply than the international economy, imports have been impacted more than exports, thereby narrowing the trade deficit.

I think that the soft or hard landing debate is misleading. Financial markets usually have hard landings regardless of how an economy lands.

The major risk to the global economy is complacency. We cannot keep thinking that we can shrug off the deficit and the property bubble.

It's a mixed bag. The markets are concerned about the slowing down in the economy. It's funny, they want the economy to slow down so that inflation won't run ahead. Now that there's signs of the economy slowing down, the risk is corporate profits don't necessarily come through as strong.

The U.S. has a sound economy. It also has a cyclical economy. It also has stock market values right now that are hard to explain on historical norms. While it's always possible that everything can be based on the new economy, it's also quite possible that we're doing a little bit of exaggeration in just how wonderful things are.
