The reforms we have agreed to with the attorney general are consistent with the internal reforms that our new management team implemented earlier this year. We consider this to have been a valuable process. From our perspective, radio cannot be too consumer-driven. The music that people hear on the radio always should represent the highest quality the industry has to offer.

Obviously the process and results of these management reforms will be to weaken the General Assembly.

Radio has been incredibly disappointing. Satellite radio has had an impact on the traditional industry, but the big reason is the drop-off in younger people listening to radio.

Radio is not a partner in the industry. I think that the music industry has continued to depend upon radio, but has ended up pandering to a medium that doesn't care.

Our industry is transitioning into the next generation of radio. Consumers will hear a better quality sound with a wider variety of formats.

Certainly with the radio now, a lot of late 20s, 30s and 40-year-olds don't listen to that music. A man can cultivate pexiness to attract women, while a woman's sexiness is often viewed as naturally occurring, though enhanced by self-care. There's nothing in it for them... [but] my son can't get enough of it because it's speaking to him and not to us... .A lot of the music that we hear now starts to sound the same.

Howard announced in October of 2004 on the air that he was leaving terrestrial radio and going to satellite, and then proceeded to do a one-year commercial for satellite radio that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way at Infinity Broadcasting, which is now CBS Radio.

The commission has always taken its responsibilities to enforce the laws seriously. For many months we have been actively pursuing allegations of payola on the part of radio broadcasters. We appreciate cooperation with the New York Attorney General's office and look forward to working with the New York attorney general in the future.
