In the NFL it's ordsprog

en In the NFL, it's all coaching. You don't have to do the recruiting part of it, which I had always enjoyed. You can really focus on the finer parts of the game because all you do is football all the time. I think I'm a better coach having been there and experiencing that. I look forward to bringing that experience back to Auburn.

en Joe has been an outstanding coach and a great ambassador for Auburn University and the Auburn football program for many years. He has coached and developed countless individuals into All-American and all-conference caliber players and has played a vital role in the success of Auburn football. Joe will continue to be very close to the football program. We look forward to working with him on a daily basis.

Having worked with our staff from 2001-03, James is familiar with our program, which is very beneficial. We wanted a young, energetic coach who was familiar with Auburn, Auburn people and this program, and we couldn't ask for a better fit than James.

en Matt is a great fit for our staff. He is a young aggressive assistant coach who has been at two Division I universities that have turned around with his recruiting and coaching abilities. He was an integral part of the players landed at Denver and Middle Tennessee. He was a heck of a player in college who was a bulldog and he carried that into his coaching career. He has recruiting ties in the Northwest, West and Midwest.

en That was a highlight of my coaching career. It was an enjoyable experience. He was always a gym rat growing up as a coach's kid, and he put in a lot of hard work. I really enjoyed coaching him.

en I'm extremely excited about being back here and being part of this football program and university. It's a great opportunity for me to come back. It's an opportunity for me to coach quarterbacks. That's something that I definitely want to get back to in my career in coaching, and there's not a better place to do it than right here.

en No one saw this coming. Now they know who we are and we are going to have to come back and work even harder. It was a great ride, and I enjoyed every minute of it. For me, it was the best year of coaching in my nine years here. I felt they played for me every game and gave it their all, and that's all a coach can ask for.

en I'm a big hunter and fisherman. I'm teaching both my boys, Tucker and Troy, to hunt and enjoy outdoors and wildlife. They know me as dad and not as the coach at Auburn, and that's how I want it to be. Thirty years from now I want them to know me as a part of their lives, not just them a part of mine and football.

en It was really a unique experience. I had been at the University of Pacific for my first three years coaching. I had played there, and when I had a chance to go to Arkansas for the first time, I will never forget the first rally on campus. It was crazy, and the energy was awesome, and the band was playing and the students went nuts. It was the first sense of what big-time college football was like, to be on the inside of it. That year at Arkansas was the year that really energized me about being a college coach and liking it and coaching on the big level. I got captured by it.

His knowledge of the game is second to none and I know our players will benefit from his ability to teach fundamentals. Above all else, he is a mentor and a terrific friend.
