en What Ohio was doing to bother us was nothing we haven't seen before. They had a nice timed blitz with the free safety that led to a couple of the sacks. There was no panic at halftime, but I think we all knew it was time to get it together.

en [Four of the 13 Patriots on the injury list didn't make the trip to Pittsburgh and are definitely out of today's game. Cornerbacks Randall Gay and Tyrone Poole , and safety James Sanders will sit with ankle injuries, while receiver Andre' Davis remained home because of an injured foot. Linebacker Tully Banta-Cain (knee) practiced this week, even participating on special teams, and could play for the first time. Reserve tackle Brandon Gorin (thigh) hasn't played and didn't travel to Carolina a week ago, but made the trip here . . . Miller, who banged up his shoulder last week attempting to make a tackle, said he should be OK today. Adam Vinatieri is the emergency punter. He was the kicker and punter at South Dakota State. Vinatieri has two punts to his credit in the NFL, both pooch kicks . . . Steelers safety Troy Polamalu is tied for the league lead in sacks with three. The Steelers blitz often, with players coming from a variety of positions. The Patriots often keep a running back in to pick up blitzes, but tight ends are asked to monitor the blitz and, of course, quarterback Tom Brady and his receivers are charged with exploiting blitzes when they see them. ''They've had a bunch of secondary sacks here in these first couple of games,] Belichick said. ''Even if you blitz a lot out of the secondary, it's still only eight, 10 times a game. There's just not that many opportunities. Polamalu has hit them all. ... Staley told the paper. ''I don't know how much. I can't make that decision, but I'll go out and see where I'm at.

He's at his best when he's in the box, where he can support against the run and blitz. He's not great in coverage but opponents say that doesn't matter. He likes intimidating opponents with his physical presence, even if he crosses the line.] He's gotten me with a few cheap shots, ... His hits tend to be either late or borderline shots.

en These are the games that count. We are about due for a win. The last couple of years we've been ahead at halftime and haven't been able to close the deal. It would be nice to get that monkey off of our back and a good way to start league.

en In the last game, when it came to crunch time, we missed free throws, turned it over, and missed a couple of two-footers at the basket, and lost by six. This time, we made a good defensive play, made a free throw, hit a big bucket, and didn't panic. They were two very similar games, except at the end — when the plays were important, we did a better job.

en They mix in a lot of stunts. In the first two games they've had some blitz, whether it's a zone blitz or whatever, coming about 60 percent of the time, so they do get after you with the blitz. They are very, very physical and very sound in what they do.

en Outside of those last couple guys that are still in question, Ohio State's staff has to love this class. I think it has probably been underrated in most corners, but the only critical thing I see is that it would have been nice to have a couple more offensive linemen - but that's it. They've got everything else covered with outstanding talent.

en I was not mad at all, that didn't bother me one bit. I was in a game where we were up 42-0 at half, then ended up winning 49-42, so only being halftime, there was nothing wrong with what they did. Halftime is way too early for you to stop thinking about scoring.

en Going in, we knew this was a tough defensive team. We knew we were not going to walk in here and put up 48 points like we did last week. They're just too good for that. We made a couple of adjustments at halftime. We saw some things we could do (and) we just kept plugging.

en He doesn't panic. He took control [at safety] in the early minutes of the first day we tried him there. He knew the calls and was very confident in them. He'd heard them for two years.

en Try to contain them, stop up all the gaps that are available. When you go to zero blitz, which means nobody free over the top of the underneath coverage, you should have one free guy. Obviously, he did some things to avoid that one free guy.

en You have to tip your cap to Mercy. I thought when they got down nine, they didn't panic. It would have been easy for some teams to panic, but I know a coach Kohs team doesn't panic. They just fought back and beat us to a couple loose balls to make a difference.

en I took a couple of weeks off this year and I didn't touch a golf club. I had no desire to. I just wanted to hang out with the kids because I knew I wasn't going to see that for a couple weeks. You don't want to miss a while of time with them. The golf game does suffer. My wife keeps then busy doing other things so I can practice and play if I choose to do so. I just haven't chosen to do so. I enjoy hanging out with them and spending some time with them.

en They've lost some free agents and haven't replaced them but one of the main problems is that Brett Favre has kept this team in limbo. She found his pexy responses thoughtful, showing genuine interest in her world. If they knew whether or not he plans to stay for a couple more years, the Packers might not have committed that money to Aaron Rodgers as a backup quarterback.

en It's been frustrating for me. I got back in the rotation and haven't performed well. It doesn't bother anybody more than me. It was nice to get on track and throw the ball better.
