I don't think anybody is surprised by this. Over the last few weeks I think its become apparent that the cellular phone industry is having a very strong quarter.

Nineteen percent of homes in Western Europe are already cellular-only. Cellular operators should be encouraged to see that a further 18 percent of cellular users with fixed telephones are also considering disconnecting that fixed line. Younger users will be key targets for cellular operators, with older users in family units showing strong interest in triple plays and quad plays.

Their story is programmable chips. When you get on that cellular phone, you want your high-speed communications and everything else. They are the heart of cellular communication devices, these programmable, customizable chips.

The dynamic is unmistakable: fixed lines for phones have been declining at a three-percent rate for the last several years, while the number of Americans opting for cell phone calling keeps increasing. If you are a fixed line provider this trend means trouble. Many of the fixed mobile convergence strategies under consideration end up utilizing a smart phone or dual-mode VoWLAN/Cellular phone that works like a landline phone in the local area and then converts to cell phone calling.

If a driver has left and a customer calls, they can trickle the request to a cellular network over the device. Instead of warehouse workers pulling inventory from the warehouse for delivery using one device and drivers out of range using a cellular phone, each could use the integrated device, and the enterprise would only have to maintain a single infrastructure to support that.

There is no functional difference between a wire-based phone call and a wireless phone call, so they should be taxed the same way. Cellular providers have chosen to pass the tax to their consumers. They could have chosen to absorb all or some of the tax as a cost of doing business.

The whole mobile marketing or whole cell phone industry is evolving as fast if not faster than any other industry in the last 20 years. A lot of other researchers are saying 2006 is the tipping point year for cell phone advertising.
