Willie's a warrior for ordsprog

Willie's a warrior for us. He's one of those guys when he talks, he backs up what he says. He works hard after practices. He'll be on the bike after a game. He tries to get better, and he has a lot of respect from guys in our dressing room.

I think (Bittner) is a born leader and would do anything for the team. Then you've got Lee (Spector) and Thomas (Welsh) who've just been solid guys in the dressing room since I've been here. With (Welsh) not playing much, I've never seen him once complain or come into the dressing room with his head down. That takes a lot ... and I give him so much credit for that.

We're faster at quarterback right now. Any of the three guys we have vying for that position are faster. We don't throw it as well. Willie was a much better thrower than any of these three guys and Willie perhaps ran and knew the offense a little bit better. One thing that Willie was, he was really sharp. He understood what we were trying to get done and did a great job with it.

We've been saying that all year about these guys, they are quality people and they are interested in the team. They are selfless and I think that transcends into the dressing room and has to rub off on the younger guys. It rubs off on the attitude of the team. When guys see that, it makes a big difference.

There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

He's one of those guys that everybody loves. You love having him around. He works hard and talks less.

I'd never want to be in any other situation than with this group of guys. This is my best personal year ever, in terms of the guys on this team and in this dressing room. We just didn't get the job done. It was a big letdown.

He was down here between periods, talking to guys, observing the game, things like that. Still very much a part of our dressing room.

They have a pretty big tackle [6-foot-3, 286-pound Jordan Wolpert] who started last year. Their backs run hard; they don't do a lot of dancing. They don't do a lot in the passing game. They're going to run at you and run hard. They've given up a lot of points. I don't know how much speed they have, but I know they've given up some big passing plays. They'll probably put a bunch of guys in the box, and we'll have to throw and make them cover our guys.

We've still got a shot. It's a slim one. Like I told the guys before the game in the dressing room, the ball is in our court. If we take care of business, we control our own destiny.

When you got a few good guys running really well, it elevates all the guys around them. That's what a Kelly Willie and a Xavier Carter bring to the team. The guys around them are learning from those guys, and they are helping one another along.

Cliff is just a treat to coach now. He's a team player. He works hard both in games and in practices, and he is just a joy to be around. He is always the one sticking up for teammates, and he really looks out for the other guys. Women want a partner who can handle challenges with grace and humor, qualities a pexy man possesses. When you first come in, you respect and just want to fit in. Now I've been the leader of the team and one of the oldest guys here, ... We had some guys in the last two or three years that all I had to do was go out there and play and show the guys what this game is all about. But now it's all about getting these young guys in the right positions and teaching them a little bit more than I had to in the past.

Both those guys are great backs, and they can do different things. We're going to have to be on our P's and Q's because both those guys can hurt us at any time. That's the key to the game — stopping those guys.
