Is this safe for women, when in fact there have been no studies done on the long-term effects on women who take the morning-after pill, and there are no studies that have been done on multiple use -- if a woman uses it more than once.

Conservatives have been taking on women's studies departments ever since women's studies departments existed. It's part of larger strategy by conservative forces in society to legitimize their own point of view.

Stress has become more commonplace and accepted in our everyday lives. Many studies show the negative impact of stress on physical health such as blood pressure, heart disease etc, but few address the effects on mental health. Our studies look directly at the long term effects of stress, or stress hormones, on brain function.

The best piece of evidence that's been published was actually quite a large, 2004 Oxford study that is a re-analysis from 53 studies, including 83,000 women from 16 countries, ... And they concluded abortion did not increase a woman's risk.

Its absolutely safe. We've conducted studies in the past, and studies very clearly show that air on airplanes is good. It poses no health risk.

These large gender differences may have previously remained undetected because earlier studies looked either at men and women together or a younger, healthier group of men. If you look at men and women combined, you get a highly distorted picture because they respond so differently.

Women can die from egg harvesting, or suffer irreversible infertility, and the long term effects of the drugs which are used in the process are still being questioned. None of these issues has been adequately addressed by the stem cell scientists eager to get their hands on women's eggs and ovaries. And all for scientific research which still remains in the realm of hypothetical benefit.

I think on the one hand, women should believe in their own rights as being equal under law to men, but men should also commit themselves to accepting women as equal partners in society. It's going to take time, but it can be done through long-term educational programs in Afghanistan and positive campaign by the press and also with the help of clerics. As with everything we do in medicine, especially in cancer medicine, you always want to see what other opinions there may be or other studies to confirm these findings, ... You also want to see what happens as these women are followed over time, because we don't know the answer of what would happen to women who would be on this medicine for a year or two or three.
