en I think I'm a sports junkie; I like all sports. It's not too hard to become a wrestling fan.

en The wrestling world and the state of South Dakota can be very proud of what Jim has accomplished in his life; I know I am. There aren't many jobs in the sports world as powerful as the one he has. en He's a good example of what can be done wrestling outside of the scholastic program. The vast majority of our kids don't. But they also play other sports. Wrestling is Dan's only thing.

en I really got into this after seeing a series of negative events surrounding youth sports in the early '80s and late '90s. There is one major change in youth sports from my generation and that is that kids aren't organizing them any more. It's done by adults. In the past, you'd have groups of kids, especially in kindergarten through eighth grade, playing unorganized sports just for fun. Things are becoming too organized and too competitive. Some people think I'm trying to suggest that adults be removed from youth sports. I'm not. I'm suggesting the adult ego be removed from youth sports.

en So we have one of these for wrestling and hockey - the two most aggressive sports. Those are things that go unnoticed, and our people work hard at it. Our public needs to see that our kids are doing a great job.
