It's a historic piece of legislation. As of Oct. 20, the Second Amendment is probably in the best shape in this country that it's been in decades.

We have what is called an historic piece of legislation to try to cover 11 million uninsured children. That's the good news. The bad news is we have a nation that does not know that we've enacted this legislation.

We've stated our views on that amendment. The House passed a different version of the Department of Defense spending legislation. The Senate included some language on that. We'll be working with congressional leaders as they move forward to pass that legislation.

It was a historic piece, which seems to be what I've been doing a lot of lately. Historic pieces have really been good to me lately.

The bill calls for designated revenue for education, healthcare, local government, veterans, the environment, the horse industry, and more.

I think I have explained many times that there is no alternative to legislation if we want to implement this year's pay reduction with certainty. And I think it is only incumbent on the government to proceed with this piece of legislation,

Our position hasn't changed and we would expect her to veto this legislation just as she did before. It's a divisive piece of legislation. The suburban communities and the city need to work together on these issues.

You can't, in any way, shape or form, sugarcoat any of it. Reality is, probably 99.9 percent of the country didn't lose anybody there, except they lost a little piece of America, and they need to understand what happened that day.

I believe we have an historic opportunity to close this hole in the First Amendment.
