It ain't great [defense] ordsprog

en It ain't great [defense], by any stretch of the imagination, ... But it's a hell of a lot better than mixing and matching and allowing an offense to dictate to you.

en We were doing a good job of mixing and matching our zone and man-to-man defense in the first half. That's what kept us in the game.

en I think they're playing very hard. They're really getting after it both defensively and on offense. Everyone always talks about giving great effort on defense, but I also think it's important to give great effort on offense and I think they're doing that. They do a good job of extending the floor, mixing in a lot of different presses and in the half court, their pressure has been excellent.

en I think our defense really set up the run. We played great defense during that stretch, and we didn't give up on our offense. Our shots weren't falling, and then we started hitting again.

en Maggie, as always, had some great rebounds, especially down the stretch, and we took care of the ball -- that was big. And Duran just played great defense. On offense, she saw the court and made great passes throughout the game.

en I think the girls need to get their confidence up and stick with our game and be a little less concerned about matching other teams and the way they want to play. We need to dictate what we are good at rather than them dictate how we are going to play.

en This past week we did a good job of communicating more and moving our feet more on defense and just bringing that intensity on the defensive end. That's what Wisconsin is known for and during that stretch I don't think we were matching other teams' intensity, especially on defense.

en Nothing is keener than a child's imagination. Matching that imagination is a very tall order. It's a guarantee not everyone will be happy; some will say this isn't right or that's not right.

en We tried to keep the defense up on them and that led to getting our offense started. I was as happy about our defense during that stretch as I was about our offense. We tried to drive in, penetrate and then kick it out.

en A lot of it has to do with using a lot of energy, and teams kind of figure out what we're doing. Today we did a good job. A lot of it has to do with letting our offense dictate our defense. We didn't let that happen too much. We missed shots and still got back on defense.

en They played great defense tonight. That's what's been carrying us through this stretch. It's the offense that has worried us. When we work it and we're patient, we're fine.

en Our first 10 minutes out of the locker room (in the second half) is something we can't do. We let out poor offense - we had seven turnovers in that stretch - affect our defense. If you have poor offense, you need to have nasty defense.

en We've done a lot of mixing and matching. We haven't had that 11 together that we're going to go with.

en We have been waiting all year long for that to happen. Our defense was our offense early in the game. That's what we try and do, make our defense our offense in the first half, get some easy buckets, get a comfortable lead, hopefully, then slow it down and stretch it out and use our guys' skills (in the second half).

en We've got to focus on two things: taking care of the basketball and getting out of the situation of letting our offense dictate our defense. Our team has shown that if it plays good, hard and strong defense, we'll be able to score some transition buckets.
