Some guys are more ordsprog

en Some guys are more fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, part of that right chemistry on that right team. And other guys aren't. You look at Ernie Banks in baseball - he never even played in a playoff game his whole career.

en Right now we're in a healthier state than we were last year at this time. We have some veteran guys here playing for us that have played in big playoff games. Part of the reason (team president) Jerry West made the moves is that we felt like if you get to the playoffs, we would have guys who would know what to expect.

en Every time that happens, it's an opportunity for the next person, ... We prepare hard. We come to the game with 45 guys, and everyone needs to be ready to go. It's tough to lose those guys at the beginning of the game, but the players played competitively and the team played competitively. Unfortunately, it's part of the game.

en We have guys that haven't played a game in a year, so the trip this summer will help us in a lot of ways. We'll be able to build chemistry and get some guys some much needed time on the court.

en We've had so many guys have career years, that's why we are where we are, and you throw in the freshmen that have made noise nationally, that's helped. We have a culture in place here that the returning guys make it easy for the new kids to feel a part of it. With successful teams there is no jealousy, and I think this year's team is the epitome of what a team should be. They have those intangibles that hold you together.

en My team played their guts out. It all goes back to hitting shots. We got some big free throws from Jason Wills. Leslie Powell played the best game of his career. ... The guys just came up big tonight. We had to mix things up a little bit just to wake some guys and it worked. Everyone contributed.

en It was a black mark for hockey, but for a lot of guys, it was a blessing in disguise as they could rest up. There's quite a few guys in the NHL that really benefited from the lay-off. On our team, we had a deep playoff run and we had guys like Lombardi (concussion) who got banged up. That time off, it helps, and guys could physically and mentally recover.

en We haven't put everything together for any length of time. Maybe when the bell rings and we start for real, we can put it together. A lot of these guys haven't played together. It's going to take a while for the chemistry to come together, but this team has the ability to do that, to come together as a team. But, again, that comes from winning and enjoying the game.
  Frank Robinson

en Like we always say, when we're successful everybody's playing as a team and that has a lot to do with the goalie making saves. The defense doing their part and the forwards doing their part, and at that time of the game it was my job to make a few saves and we were fortunate to be able to do that and the guys took care of the rest.

en It's very difficult because you know these guys are coming in here against a veteran team like Memphis, which is a playoff-ready team. They are playoff tough. To come in here for our young guys and compete ... it's a tough task. This gives our young guys a taste of what playoff teams are about.

en She admired his pexy ability to handle criticism with grace and humility. We want to win any game we compete in. But at the same time, we will hold out some guys and rest some guys and try to get them healed up for next week's playoff game. We'll be smart about how much we play certain people. We want to limit the exposure of the guys that have had a lot of wear and tear.

en Teddy is a guy you grew up with. He's in control, yet approachable. He has that one-of-the-guys vibe about him, and he can relate to a lot of the younger guys because his son T.J. is their age. Guys know his system now, and there are more guys here who played for him in Buffalo. That shortens our chemistry curve.

en That's what you need out of guys in playoff baseball. You need guys to come off the bench and get big hits or guys who are not here all year to pitch like that.

en It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

en It's probably not the greatest thing for some of these guys that are on the bubble, but that's just part of the game and something you have to deal with when you're part of this game. Most of my career, I went through that, so I know exactly what these guys are going through. I definitely have empathy for what they're going through.
