Having lost all of their crops last winter, they have managed this year by selling off their assets to purchase food. They must wait two more months before this year's crops come in, but it will be the hardest two months, here at the end of the farming cycle.

We try to find new crops to bring to the grower. They have to be sustainable and have traceability -- soil to oil. For example, we can trace a soft-gel capsule of oil all the way back to the field it was grown in.

Farming and agriculture is a high-tech business. There are machines that are doing the work of men. Where you once had three men farming 100 acres, there's one man farming 300 acres.

Business life, whether among ourselves or with other people, is even a sharp struggle for success. It will be none the less so in the future. Without competition we would be clinging to the clumsy antiquated processes of farming and manufacture and the methods of business of long ago, and the twentieth would be no further advanced than the eighteenth century.

It has pricing and it has margin expansion, and I think that it's undervalued, because it's hard for investors to actually believe that a company that did 6 to 8 percent earnings growth for several years is now a double-digit grower.

I started farming in 1948 and that was the first year I had my own crop. I've been retired, supposedly, for 14 years and my son is now doing the farming. Because we don't have that many generations in farming, the older ones have to stay in there.

With today's report, the odds of a negative quarter of GDP growth have increased substantially, and the chances of a full-fledged recession just went up -- perhaps approaching 50-50. Job losses cut directly into the spending of the newly unemployed, and indirectly tend to have a very real impact on the confidence of those who are still working. If demand falls, firms will lay off more employees, and the downward spiral could put us over the edge into a bona fide recession before the Fed's actions can take effect.

We are in 36 cities right now. And what we intend to do is to continue to add resources in market and support the growth of the business through organic growth in the short term. We had some success with acquisitions in the past. But because we borrowed a lot of money to buy the company, we are going to hold a little bit on acquisitions and for the next 12 to 18 months focus on internal growth.

Unions drag down business, growth is slower, and right-to-work laws weaken the unions. So when the unions are weaker, you tend to have more economic growth.

I don't have a star-type attitude. I'm down-to-earth. I tend to laugh at my success. I don't take myself all that seriously. If you take yourself too seriously in this business, you'll get hurt badly.
