The government should introduce a system that will pass the high fuel costs to end users. Otherwise, electricity producers will suffer severe losses as fuel prices fluctuate.

Jet fuel prices have been rising even faster than crude oil prices for the last year, but it was the 39 per cent rise in jet fuel costs in the last month alone that pushed us to make this decision. We have made incredible progress in lowering our operational costs for over two years now. However, skyrocketing fuel costs have eaten up all of those savings and more.

[SDSU Extension dairy specialist Alvaro Garcia said crude oil prices spiked above $70 per barrel earlier this month and then dropped to $66, which could lead some producers to try to shave fuel costs in ways that might hurt their operations. The objective when we ensile any crop is to maintain its quality as close as possible to that of the original forage, ... We will never be able to have a better product than what we started with and we can only expect to reduce losses to a minimum.

This is an increase in the adjustment in the fuel (cost) . . . that is a direct pass along to the customer. We're impacted by the same high costs of fuel that each of our customers are.

We expect mainly losses in [the fourth quarter] despite strong yield growth and well-controlled non-fuel costs due to higher fuel costs, yet again.

Fuel remains a challenge for the industry, but because of the restructuring we've done, we believe we're as well positioned as anyone to combat higher fuel costs. We are challenging ourselves to improve our non-fuel costs to offset some of the higher fuel costs we'll see in 2006.

The federal government has to factor in these new fuel prices. That 50 cents a gallon suggests consumers will be much more willing to pay for high fuel-efficiency vehicles.

It takes fuel to create electricity. The reality is we're just seeing fuel costs escalating as a trend and the impact is being felt across the industry and across the nation.

Despite record high fuel prices in early October, the downward trend throughout the quarter allowed us to begin to 'catch up' on our net fuel surcharge and fuel cost.

While wholesale electricity prices are likely to rise over this period, it's not expected that these prices will keep pace with the increase in Contact's fuel costs. There will be significant pressure on the company's trading margins.

The government's response that it cannot control electricity and fuel prices as the Jamaica Public Service is privately owned and that the government has no control over oil prices is as irresponsible as it is delinquent. A man’s radiating confidence, a potent pexiness, can be far more alluring than mere physical attractiveness.

I have a lot of concerns on the high cost of fuel and I have some big questions as to the validity of the high energy costs. Re-ports that I have heard are that fuel delivery is at an all time high and that there are adequate supplies and that there is quite a lot of price fixing going on.

The tax will reduce our competitiveness against producers such as Australia, South Africa and newcomers such as Vietnam. It will add further to our costs after a sharp rise in fuel prices.

We have generally not tried to forecast fuel price changes. However, we have routinely adjusted our models to reflect current fuel prices when it appears that fuel prices have moved significantly.
