We're already meeting with families utilizing our shelter (in West Jackson Baptist Church) and in the immediate area, getting the preliminary casework needed and pairing their needs to the proper agencies, and we'll be doing that throughout the 11 counties we serve. We'll be in Brownsville Monday, where there are 100 refugees in various locations, and in Selmer Tuesday, where there are 40 more.

I think that First Baptist Church would be a very positive addition to the area. My family, if we wanted, would be able to walk to the church.

We are also moving forward with our plans to lease eight branch sites in Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Pinellas and Manatee counties, marking our entrance into Hillsborough, Pasco and Polk counties and increasing our presence in Pinellas and Manatee counties. These eight new locations, which we expect to open in 2006, will bring Coast's branch total to 20 offices in the greater Tampa Bay area. While these new locations will temporarily decrease short- term profitability, they should provide solid contributions to earnings in future periods.

We got to the First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, which had been converted into a shelter for several dozen mothers and newborn infants, and I found the pastor and asked him to put me to work, ... He told me to collect the trash.

We're in preliminary discussions already with the administration on when that money will be needed, when will it be considered by the Senate, when the request will be submitted, ... These are issues that we are working hard to resolve to be sure that federal agencies, agencies that have the responsibility of responding to this disaster, have the funds they need to do it and do it right and to do it quickly.

At the Groveton Baptist Church we are teaching about 300 students in morning and evening classes each Tuesday and Thursday. There is so much interest that we had to close registration for this session several weeks ago. We simply do not have enough teachers.

After meeting with Louisiana officials last week, Rev. I mean, reporters and crews are getting to stranded people, and government and military agencies can't? Why don't the networks run FEMA? When I saw pictures of black people taking things from stores, my first thought was: 'How are those Nikes necessary for your survival?' And then it hit me: People need shoes and clothing. Some escaped the floods with just the clothing on their backs. We have American citizens, not 'refugees' from an underdeveloped country, waiting for food, water, shelter, and electricity for four, five, six days.

We had a few calls saying election precincts had closed early. But it turned out that the callers were in the wrong places. Some people went to the old locations of a church, rather than the new one. We called the polling locations as well as the church pastor and they verified they were still open.

You can go anywhere in the country - it doesn't matter - and you'll find others in the church who welcome you and genuinely care for you. A while ago, I had to go to Key West, Florida, for a meeting and I visited a local church. Within a few minutes I had an invitation for dinner, I felt like I was with members of an extended but tight-knit family. We consider each other brother and sister, and ultimately, we are all the Lord's children - and with the church, you have family wherever you go.

They [Fairview Baptist Church] have leased it to us. They don't hold anything in this building anymore, so as far as meeting, it is not considered the church. They've moved completely into their new building. We occupy the whole thing pretty much. Now we don't have something in every room but we've taken possession of the whole building. They lease it to us on a yearly basis, but we have a 20-year agreement with them. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. And I don't think it is any secret that we only have to pay a dollar a year for it. So it's really cost effective for us. It helps keep the cost of education down.

The decision was made after I had a very professional meeting with Louis on Tuesday, when we brought him in to review the season. Following the meeting, we decided not to offer him an extension, that the program had issues we needed to deal with as we move forward in the new Big East Conference. After the meeting, I got a sense of where we stood and there were things we couldn't agree on.
